Yealands are finalists at the HSBC NZCTA China Business Awards, having been shortlisted for the Hong Kong New Zealand Business Association (HKNBA) Award, ‘Success in Hong Kong by a New Zealand Organisation’. 

According to HSBC, participating in the awards is about valuing and supporting the New Zealand-China relationship. This includes the governments of both countries who have committed to growing two-way trade to $30 billion by 2020. HSBC hopes to see innovative companies stepping up at this year’s awards, leveraging the resources available to them to be successful in conducting business in China. 
Today, Yealands export their brands to more than 80 countries across the globe. In 2011 they began exporting their carbon neutral wines to Hong Kong and have seen strong triple-digit growth over the past six years. 

“Our goal in Asia,” says Adrian Garforth MW and CEO for Yealands, “has always been to identify and build relationships with key distribution partners who are the best in their sales channels. We are represented by some of Hong Kong’s most successful and reputable importers and distributors and they have become great brand ambassadors for us, sharing our unique stories with trade customers and consumers. We are thrilled to have been selected as a finalist in these awards, demonstrating our commitment to the Hong Kong market” 

There are 14 assorted wine brands exported by Yealands to Hong Kong under various labels, and more than 12 different wine varietals available in market. Yealands have invested heavily in marketing, sales promotions and public relations in Hong Kong over recent years to develop trade and consumer awareness. These investments have helped increase Yealands’ brand profile in Hong Kong and spread their numerous sustainability stories amongst customers and consumers. 

Not only renowned for their sustainability efforts, Yealands’ wines are also revered for their quality. In 2015, Yealands won the coveted Cathay Pacific Hong Kong International Wine & Spirit Competition (HKIWSC) Trophy for “Best Sauvignon Blanc in the World” and “Best New Zealand Wine” for its Yealands Estate Single Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2015. The following year, the Yealands Estate Single Vineyard Pinot Noir 2015 won the Best Food Match Trophy for ‘Best Wine with Honey Glazed Char Siu” at the same competition. These two trophy wins, against hundreds of wines from all over the world, further endorsed the quality of Yealands’ wines in the Hong Kong market. 

Other finalists in the category are Censere Group and Gallagher Security. Presentation of the awards will be made in Auckland on 31st May.
