Award-winning Marlborough winery, te Pā Wines, has continued its international expansion, with new US markets recently added to its growing global distribution roster.

The winery, which is already popular in key markets across Asia, the UK and Canada, has just signed agreements with distributors in Illinois, Florida and Michigan. te Pā’s first international agent, Select Fine Wine, has also been appointed to represent the brand’s interests across the US.

The deals mark te Pā’s entry into the lucrative US market, which is one of the fastest growing importers of New Zealand wine. With a presence already established in Nova Scotia, and distribution discussions underway in Ontario and British Columbia, North America represents a key growth market for te Pā and its sister brand Koha.

New opportunities are also being explored in Sweden, Germany, Denmark and the Netherlands, which all present significant growth potential for New Zealand wines with an authentic brand and a quality product.

te Pā’s international programme includes a regular presence at high profile wine and food shows, including upcoming shows in Maui and Honolulu, as well as competitions and trade shows such as the San Francisco International Wine Competition in June.

Back home, te Pā is focusing on strengthening its management team and expanding its vineyards, with its initial land holding of 150ha growing to over 500ha across the Marlborough region, including 100ha in the highly sought-after Awatere Valley.
