MitoQ Ltd, a biotech company focused on developing innovative supplement and skincare solutions to improve and support mitochondrial health, has entered into an agreement with Allergan to supply their advanced antioxidant for use in the new LUMIVIVE product line, marketed under the SkinMedica brand.

MitoQ is the world’s first CoQ10 antioxidant that can penetrate the mitochondrial membrane and act directly inside the mitochondria – our cellular ‘power plants’.

“Healthy mitochondria are essential to maintaining youthful skin, improved energy, focus and overall wellness. MitoQ’s proprietary technology has the ability to work directly inside the mitochondria to re-energize the body from the inside out,” says Greg MacPherson (poictured), CEO of MitoQ. “SkinMedica is a brand built on science, with scientifically-proven ingredients in their products, and we are thrilled that they believe in the effectiveness of MitoQ and have included it in their new product line, the LUMIVIVE System.”

The LUMIVIVE System from SkinMedica is designed with two distinct formulas, and LUMIVIVE Night Revitalize Repair Complex, which contains the MitoQ ingredient, works to recharge the skin’s essential repair process at night. MitoQ is designed to deliver the body’s own natural antioxidant, CoQ10, into the mitochondria, hundreds of times more effectively than any other antioxidant supplement. In promotional materials, SkinMedica acknowledges that Mitoquinol Mesylate (MitoQ) helps to invigorate skin cells by optimizing production of ATP, the form of energy used by the cells.

This agreement marks the first time that MitoQ has agreed to supply their patented antioxidant for use in a third-party product range. Allergan is one of the world’s top 20 pharmaceutical companies by revenue and for nearly 20 years SkinMedica innovations have been changing the face of skincare and have been a leading choice of physicians and their patients.
