According to new research conducted by Wine Business Solution, New Zealand’s oldest winery, Mission Estate, is the most successful New Zealand brand in the UK for on premise listings in 2014.
Mission Estate toppled previous leader Cloudy Bay from the number one slot and now has 5.3% market share compared to just 0.5% last year. It also made the ‘Top 10’ list of On-Premise brands from all nations (coming in at number 10) – one of only three non-Champagne brands to do so.
Andy Crozier, Export Manager at Mission Estate, says: “As New Zealand’s oldest winery, it’s great to see our wines gaining traction in the UK on premise market. This is a fantastic achievement for us and we’re proud that our great-value, reputable wines are holding their own in such a competitive market.”
“We took the decision around 12 months ago to increase our investment in the UK, this included the appointment of an experienced in-market Business Development Manager to work alongside our distributor, Cockburn & Campbell. We believe our portfolio offers great depth, scope and value and it would seem that the UK on premise trade is in agreement.”
