Denmark’s Maersk Line has announced it will impose a series of general rate increases (GRI) and peak-season surcharges for its Far East Asia services in December, according to the Shipping Gazette.
Effective December 15, the rates for Maersk’s services from Far East to Mexico, Central America and the west coast of South America will increase US$600 per TEU and $1,200 per FEU and 45-foot high cube dry box, adding that rates for Far East-Caribbean service will also increase $560 per TEU and $800 per FEU and 45-foot high cube from the same date.
For services from Far East to South Africa and the Indian Ocean Islands, the rates will be up $150 per TEU and $300 per FEU and 45-foot box, also effective December 15.
The world’s largest carrier will levy $200 per TEU and $400 per FEU peak-season surcharge on both dry and refrigerated cargo for services from Far East Asia to North Europe and the Mediterranean from December 26.
