A bi-lateral Chamber of Commerce has been established to assist New Zealand firms trading throughout the wider Arab region and to facilitate access to New Zealand for Arab companies and investors.
The Arab-NZ Chamber of Commerce will be hosted by the Auckland Chamber of Commerce and Chief Executive Michael Barnett stated that if New Zealand is to take advantage of the significant opportunities in the region, New Zealand firms would benefit from a platform that could connect with a powerful network of Chambers of Commerce that assist the Arab business world.
The Arab-NZ Chamber of Commerce intends to provide a range of seminars and advice to support Kiwi firms and to facilitate visiting Arab exporters and investors accessing New Zealand opportunities.
Founding directors Norm Morgan and Trevor Burgess, directors of Tradex Group, welcomed the move suggesting it will help New Zealand regain some of the first-mover advantage the country enjoyed in the past.
