Nelson-based Pete’s Natural Lemonade has sent its first ever shipment overseas. Run by husband and wife duo, Pete and Marleen, the company produces all-natural drinks, made with 100 percent New Zealand ingredients.

With the first exports being sent to Singapore and Malaysia, the couple are excited about what’s ahead. “Our goal for the next 12 months is to break into other export markets. Hong Kong and Australia are also on the cards,” says Marleen.
“New Zealand products are very well received overseas, especially food and beverages, because they are very high quality.

We fill a niche market because we use freshly squeezed fruit from New Zealand growers, while most other companies use concentrates from overseas. Especially in Asia, New Zealand products are seen as premium.”

The couple are staunch advocates for 100 percent New Zealand made. They call this, ‘fair trade at home’.

Having rebranded in March this year, and with the launch of two new flavours adding to their established four flavours, New Zealand sales have skyrocketed, allowing the couple to look further afield
